Beautiful Brunettes (Part 1)

To continue with my hair color theme, I bring you six more of my favorite sims.  These files have been checked with Custard and do not contain any harmful content.  I will provide descriptions and links for the custom content they do contain.   Just click on the headshot to download the sim:

First, we have the Bryant sisters.  These lovely young ladies were born in-game and aged into young adults just in time for me to enjoy them in Ambitions.  I made Michelle my stylist and Alecia my firefighter.  You can of course do whatever you wish with them.

Alecia’s hair is from the Ambitions expansion pack.  Alecia comes packaged with:

Michelle’s package only contains one custom pattern, the one shown on her athletic belt.  I am uncertain of its origin.  Michelle’s hair is not included but is by Anubis and can be found here.

Alex Black was also born in-game, but I don’t play his family.  I hope to marry into it though!  Alex comes with one item of custom clothing, a collared shirt with vest by Apple.  His hair is base game.

Hoko Akau is a CAS genetics experiment.  He struck me as Hawaiian, hence the name, which means (I hope) Northern Sky.  The only custom content in Hoko’s package is the pattern shown on his swimwear; I am not certain of its origins.  His everyday outfit was purchased from the store.  Hoko’s hair is not included but is from Peggyzone and can be found here.  It’s Free – ID: #000057.

Elizabeth Miller started as a CAS genetics experiment.  I saw something interesting in her features that made me think of old English royalty, so I kept working on her until I got the look I wanted.  She’s not a typical beauty by today’s standards, I’ll admit, but I like to think that a couple of centuries ago, she might have been all the rage.  Elizabeth’s hair is not included but comes from Peggyzone and can be obtained here; it is DonationGift – ID: #000198.  The following custom content is included:

Harold Wheeler is a CAS genetics experiment.  While in CAS, I saw right away that he wasn’t the most handsome guy I’ve ever gen’ed up, but there was something about him – a hint of innocense or vulnerability that I found really attractive.  Maybe someone else will too.  Harold’s hair is from one of the expansion packs (I think it’s Ambitions, but I haven’t been able to verify that).  Harold comes with the following custom content:

Enjoy these sims, and I’ll have more fabulous brunettes for you in a week or two.

Invisible Lighting

For those of you into simatography, you may be interested in two custom lamps I’ve created.  I learned about Buzzler’s Vanishing Objects Script on MTS a while back but was sad to see that it didn’t support any light sources, so I requested that he add a couple and he has!  From there, I just needed to clone the base game hurrican lights and enable them for his script.  You can access the table lamp here and the floor lamp here.  They will appear in buy mode right next to the originals.  Using the functionality of Buzzler’s script, you will be able to set the lamps invisible or visible as you prefer.

Yes, invisible lighting already exists in World Adventures, if you have that expansion pack, but these lights have some advantages over WA lighting, as you can change their intensity and color.  Also, if you use the OPH mod (also from MTS), you can use OPH objects to get the table lamp to the exact height you prefer.  One thing I didn’t realize when I created these lights was that someone else had already created invisible lights – they’re available over at The Land of Woe.  I had searched for invisible lighting before and never found these, but a friend tipped me off.  However, after taking a look at them in game, I’m still making my lights available, because the Woe lights are truly invisible – you can’t even see them in buy mode, so it can be tricky to find them in order to relocate them once you have placed them.  However, if you don’t want a script mod in your game, they are the lights for you – and they have the color and intensity options as well.

Friends…Enemies…Sisters Part 5

Chapter 5

We now return to our two Frio families to discover how their second pregnancies are progressing.  Glory looks tired but has that healthy glow.

Veronica is irritable, of course, but Jared usually manages to keep her simmering, rather than exploding.

The man may have a lot of character flaws, but he does know how to give an excellent massage!

Caressa and Jeremy are off to school now.  Caressa doesn’t understand why the other kids are afraid of her.

Jeremy gets along well with the other kids – no surprise there.

And the day has arrived!  Glory goes into labor right after seeing her son off to school.

Connor rushes to meet her at the hospital.

And after a relatively short and easy labor, they return home with their second son, Gabriel.

Veronica’s made efforts to stay fit throughout her pregnancy.

At this point though, she quickly runs out of energy.

For once, she’s glad that her husband is old and just wants to go to bed early.

But their gentle slumber is interrupted by Veronica’s agonizing labor pains.

After a long, rough night at the hospital, they return home with their second child, Vladimir.  The lack of sleep that evening has made Jared pretty grumpy.

But Veronica has ducked out of the house, and he has to come up with some energy in a hurry in order to take care of the nooboo.

Caressa is feeling even more neglected than usual now that her little brother has been born.  She struggles through her homework alone.

The first thing Connor does every day after getting home from work is to go into the nursery and cuddle his son!

His relationship with Glory is better than ever!

The time passes quickly, and before they know it, it’s Gabriel’s first birthday!

And look who came to the party:  it’s Lucia Ursine-Frio, all grown up now (and looking much better than she used to!).

And here’s little Gabriel, a toddler now!

He definitely takes after his father, although the curly hair is a mystery.

And it’s baby Vlad’s birthday as well!

Well, Vlad has certainly inherited the family…look.

Gabriel is ambitious from day one.  He can’t wait to have his own phone so he can help mommy campaign for votes.

Vladimir is a very moody toddler.  He doesn’t like much of anything, and he refuses to be potty trained!

Jeremy’s little friend certainly has a lot of grey hair for one so young!  (the downside of genetic hair color).

Caressa rides her bike to school.  She’s missed the bus again and tried to talk her parents into letting her stay home, but they didn’t want her moping around the house all day!

A boy has actually come home with Caressa after school.  Apparently, he thinks they are friends.  Caressa’s not so sure, but she figures maybe she’ll at least be able to get him to do her homework.

Some of the girls coming home with Jeremy after school are just a bit too old for him!

And when he’s not chatting them up in person, Jeremy’s chatting with girls on the internet.  I think Glory and Connor should consider implementing parental controls on their computer!

Oh man, it’s Glory’s birthday.  I can’t believe how the time has flown.  She can’t really be aging into an elder yet, can she?

This is one of those rare times that Veronica’s glad she’s the younger sister.

Glory’s nervous about the prospect of entering into her golden years.

But once it happens, she accepts it with good grace.

Veronica knows she can’t escape her own birthday much longer.

Oh well, at least it’s an opportunity to throw a party (and get some gifts!).

“Wait a minute!  I changed my mind-”

Sorry, sweetie.  What’s done is done!

Glory doesn’t let old age slow her down when it comes to interacting with her son.

But she doesn’t know what to do about the girl-crazy Jeremy.

And Vladimir *still* won’t potty train!

Yet he doesn’t like being stuck in stinky diapers either.

After a while of dealing with the tantrums, Veronica ducks out of the house for a run.  She’s still trying to keep in shape.

Gabriel is extraordinarily well behaved for his age.

He’s a very happy child, and is quickly learning to talk and walk.  He was potty trained ages ago!

Veronica has gone for her workout and discovered something she simply can’t tolerate:  a woman wearing a completely inappropriate cutesy, ruffled dress to the gym.

She’s been itching for a fight anyway, and she and the wearer of the dress quickly wind up in a scuffle.

Veronica’s pleased to observe that she’s ripped the dress in addition to beating up its owner.  “That’ll teach you not to wear such silly clothes!”  Of course, the guy in the background wonders what she’s talking about.

Oh, no!  Do you believe this?  Here’s another idiot in that darned dress.  Is this some kind of town curse, or what?

Veronica does what she must do.  It’s a one-woman crusade against a dress.

Veronica wins again, and really tears up the silly garment this time.  “I’d better never see you in here in something so ridiculous again!”

Glory is looking spiffy having gotten another promotion.  She’s very near to the top of the political ladder at this point!  And lucky for her where Veronica’s concerned, her suit is completely down to business.

And Jared has done it – he’s a master chef at last!

Amazingly, it’s already time for Caressa to grow up a bit.  Her even more turbulent teen years are waiting for her.

And here she is, so excited about life ahead.  One of the first things she does is go out and get everything pierced.

And then she cuts school and plays video games all day.

And now it’s Jeremy’s turn!

He already looks fully grown!

It’s an unexpected scene:  the three eldest Frio children, including Lucia, all together.  They’re actually getting along decently.

It’s time for Connor to join the rest of his generation in becoming an elder.

Jared can’t help snickering – misery loves company!

Soon it will be time for the youngest boys to grow into childhood.  It should be interesting to see how things go for Gabriel and Vladimir.  And let’s not forget about the new teens, Jeremy and Caressa.  Finally, will the elder Frios be able to accomplish their goals and finish raising their children before they kick off to the great beyond?  Will the evil dress make a reappearance?  Find out in Part 6!

Mini Castle

I’m working on another home, this one inspired by house plan DD3305.  It was going to be a small, single story home, in keeping with my desire to create some decent, single story homes for my sims.  However, once I got started on it, I decided to make it larger, and then it just seemed to cry out for a second story.  And then it just seemed to cry out for a moat!  So it became a much bigger project than I’d planned.  I’ve currently got most of the exterior landscaping done and am working on the interior.  Here’s an early shot of the exterior:

SIFF Red Carpet Photos

I’m participating in the Fall 2010 Red Carpet challenge at the Sims International Film Festival site.  I had intended to simply snap a few pictures, but I wound up with a story on my hands!  There are several pictures, and rather than repost them here, let me just provide you with the link to my first shot in the gallery (from there you can navigate through all of them).  I really enjoyed the challenge, but as usual, I underestimated the amount of time it would take to select the venue (Grauman’s Chinese Theater from TSR), get it decorated, and select and dress my sims.  However, I finally got it done!  Now, I’m going to work on getting my next Sisters chapter published.

The Aspen Creek

I’ve finished the home I was working on (originally named “The Olive”), and I’m pleased with the results.  I designed this home for my 3rd generation Frio family (from my Sisters series), and I think they’ll wind up living pleasantly there for a few generations!

The home was inspired by plan 21-313.  It was developed on a 30(W) x 40(L) lot  in Twinbrook (328 Rue de Sterling), but since it is 40(L), can easily be transitioned to a 40×40 lot anywhere.  It is a large single-story with 5 bedrooms, 3 1/2 bathrooms, open concept kitchen and living room, formal dining, laundry, attached single car garage, and bonus room.  It has a large, beautifully landscaped front yard (plenty of driveway space for additional parking too), and the backyard has a pool and outdoor dining area.  The house is fully furnished, but most of the decoration is left for you.

Let me take you on a little tour, but before we get started, let me just disclaim that while I really poured a lot of effort into the exterior design and decoration, interior design tends to wear me out.  I tried to stay (mostly) true to a neutral brown and green color palette, with a varying amount of success, I’m sure.  I hope that at least you’ll get an idea of what you could do with the space.

If you’re anti-CC, I do apologize for the large amount of it, but I was designing the home primarily for myself and really like the objects I used.  If you would like to install the house, you can download it here.  I have also uploaded a CC free (except for patterns) version to the Exchange – get it here.

Single Story Homes

So, my new contest, Twinbrook’s Next Top Fashion Designer is underway!  I’m so happy that the auditions phase is over!  I no longer have to be glued to my inbox and to the various recruitment threads we had going in the forums.  I should be working on the next chapter of my Sisters series, and I will very soon, I promise.  However, I’ve been having some issues in game, related to the use of moveobjects, I think, where my sims will start getting stuck and have routing problems between upstairs and downstairs areas of a home.  Resetting the lot doesn’t always work; it’s almost like the lot itself gets bugged.

I’m trying two things: curtailing my use of moveobjects (big bummer when it comes to simatography) and getting my sims moved into single story homes, where I’m hoping they won’t get stuck.  The problem with the latter is the dearth of nice one story homes out there.  I decided to find some good house plans and start building my own.  I should have known better, because it takes so long to fully build them, even with the plans to use as a guide.  Still, I’m getting into it, and I’ll share an image of the house I’m currently building (the shot was taken in build mode, so bear with me).

The Olive - In Progress

The house has 4 bedrooms and 2 1/2 bathrooms, so it’s big enough for a good sized family.  My sims are usually prolific, so I need the room!  I’ve almost finished the exterior (need to do more work in the back), but I’ve got to do a ton of work on the interior.  Still, when I’m done, it’s a house I’ll want to use for my sims, so who knows, maybe others will too.  I will post the final product here once I’ve finished and playtested it.
